Wondrous Words Wednesday (29th Oct)

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Bermuda Onion where you can share new words that you’ve encountered or spotlight words you love.  Feel free to get creative!   If you want to play along, grab the button, write a post and visit her blog.

I was inspired by Bermuda Onion to include the sentence I discovered the word, to give you a little sense of the context:

1. elucidate – “Holroyd tried to elucidate his religious beliefs, and – especially after whisky – lectured to him against supersitition and missionaries” ~The Lord of the Dynamos by H.G. Wells

                 – to clarify, make lucid, explain.

2. insouciance – “…despite Dominik’s insouciance when it came to money.” ~Eighty Days Blue by Vina Jackson

                 – indifference, lack of care or concern
